My name is Ed and I sold my house, quit my job as a Rich Media Editor with Gracenote back in the USA and moved to Uvita Costa Rica in April of 2021, in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic. Moving to a new country by yourself can be an intimidating endeavor, but with the right mindset and a little luck, life has been very good for me here. I love the weather here, the nature is absolutely amazing, the beaches and the mountains are fantastic, I even have monkeys in my back yard. I am learning more each day about life in Costa Rica. I have found and lost love here, made great life long friends both Tico aka Costarican and Gringo aka expat. My mission is to create quality videos about Costa Rica, the people that live here, the beauty of it all and guides to spotlight some of the wonderful things here from tourist attractions to local businesses. You will find episodes here about making the adjustment to moving to Costa Rica, learning Spanish, going to farmer’s market, driving in Costa Rica, guides to the beaches including Parque Nacional Marino Ballena aka the whale tail, guides to tourist destinations, how to spot monkeys, making a border run to Panama, using an ATM in Costa Rica, Costa Rican money vs USD and Euro, drone video, buying a car and having car repairs done, we go on some road trips and just the day to day life in Costa Rica. Costa Rica Story does an informal livestream on Thursdays, be sure to check that out.

I feel the need to clarify something. I have been getting an increasing number of questions from people wanting advice about money matters, insurance and residency. I am not the person you should be asking about these topics, there are others far more qualified on these important subjects. The fact is, I am not a great example of how to move to Costa Rica, I am still trying to figure a lot of things out myself. I am far from “making it” here, I have much work to do before that is my reality. My life here is not typical, certainly not perfect and I still have many puzzle pieces to put together in relation to my existence here, though I am certainly happy I made the move. My journey here has not been particularly well thought out and I fly by the seat of my pants much of the time, but that is how I tend to roll. I am not a good example to follow from that standpoint. While I do share much of my life on this channel, I do maintain a certain degree of privacy, so please don’t expect me to share everything here. I choose what I want to share and am not as much of an open book as many other YouTube people tend to be. But make no mistake, I absolutely love comments and conversations we have on the videos and community page and I learn a lot from our growing Costa Rica Story Community. I know many viewers of this channel are also planning on making the move to Costa Rica and have questions about what it takes to survive financially here, residency, health Insurance etc. These are things I am still working on myself, and for obvious reasons and some perhaps not so obvious reasons I won’t be talking much about that part of my life at the moment. For these specific topics and more I would refer you to my friend Sarah Elena, who helped me a great deal when I made my move. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list…
